Supplies & Tips for Sewing a 3-Yard Quilt
Fabric is cotton. Backing can be polar fleece.
- Rotary Cutter
- Quilting Mat
- Quilting Ruler
I like to back my quilts with polar fleece! This makes the quilts nice and snugly - perfect for relaxing in front of the TV on a cool evening. I've given these as gifts, and they are always well received by friends and family. Plus, this keeps the cost low! No need to buy the quilting cotton and batting. The fleece gives the quilt all the thickness it needs. Give it a try.
If you don't have a quilting ruler yet, I recommend getting the 24" x 8.5" sized ruler. Quilt rulers are thick and great for measuring fabric and guiding a rotary cutter. The combination of the three tools above will you give straight lines and even cuts.
