Perfect Sewing Project for Beginners!
The video below will walk you through, step-by-step, how to sew hair scrunchies.
Hair scrunchies are making a come back! They are quick and easy to whip up on the sewing machine, too. Use it as a scrap busting project, coordinate your outfits with it, or make several and give them as gifts.

Supplies for Sewing Hair Scrunchies
Fabric can be cotton or knit.
- 22 in. x 4 in. piece of fabric
- 9 inches of 1/4" elastic
- Coordinating thread
This tutorial makes a fuller scrunchie. If your fabric piece is less than 4 inches wide, it will make for a narrower scrunchie. This is a perfect scrap buster project. You can even piece together your smaller scraps to make the full 22 in. x 4 in. piece of fabric.
